In this portrait, I reimagined my friend Jennifer as the Madonna during a pivotal time in her life, as she transitioned from New Orleans to Atlanta. Drawing inspiration from classical religious iconography, I creating her in rich blue tones—a color historically associated with the Virgin Mary's divine grace and celestial nature. The traditional halo illuminates Jennifer's serene expression, symbolizing the sacred within the everyday. The portrait captures both vulnerability and strength, suggesting that like Mary, we each carry an element of the divine. Jennifer's peaceful countenance reflects her inner harmony during this period of change, embodying the universal theme that we are all vessels of divine love and blessing. Her dreadlocks contribute to her Black culture
